PISTOL RANGE PROCEDURES
←←← (don’t learn the hard way)
1. PRIOR TO SHOOTING - ALL SHOOTERS MUST:
ü SIGN IN AT THE PISTOL RANGE AND PAY DAILY USE FEE
ü READ THE RANGE PROCEDURES AND THE PISTOL SAFETY RULES
2. ONLY MEMBERS AND ESCORTED GUESTS MAY USE RANGE.
MEMBERS MUST DISPLAY CURRENT MEMBERSHIP CARD.
3. MEMBERS AND GUESTS MUST PERSONALLY SIGN IN & PREPAY FEES
Daily PISTOL RANGE FEE: members $1.00 guests $2.00 each
Daily range fees are necessary to avoid increasing annual dues. If you want to shoot on the pistol range, you must sign up and pay at the pistol range even if you have already paid at the rifle range. There is one exception: the “rifle only” exception. If you shooting a rifle at 50 yard and longer ranges, you must sign in at both ranges, but need only pay for the range that you use first.
The FEE BOX and SIGN-IN BOX are at the pistol range. Before shooting, all shooters must read all of the rules, sign in and prepay posted fees. Signing in constitutes acceptance and understanding of all listed range safety rules and procedures.
ü Your Membership Number is the last 4 digits on your Gate Access card.
ü Guests personally sign in under the member & write “guest” under membership number.
ü Please politely remind other members to sign in and pay before they start shooting.
Please report unsafe shooters, trespassers, slobs who leave a mess and cheaters who do not pay. Please write down their vehicle license plate number and slip a note in the cash box or call:
Jeff at (724) 816-9986 or Dave at (412) 671-0034
Your presence on the range constitutes acceptance, at minimum, of all posted RANGE SAFETY RULES and PISTOL RANGE PROCEDURES. Sign in constitutes documentary evidence of your understanding and acceptance of all listed rules and procedures.
4. MEMBERS HAVE PREFERENCE OVER GUESTS
5. SHOOTING HOURS – 8:00 AM UNTIL SUNSET
6. TARGETS - PAPER TARGETS ONLY
No clay birds, cans, or bottles. Remove all targets when the range is CLEAR and you are finished shooting. No shooting at targets on the ground or in the air. No cross range shooting. No mid range targets of any kind. Balloons are permitted on a trial basis: they must be attached to the plastic backstop backing and not to the support boards. If all balloon residue is not cleaned up we will be forced to ban them again. Beware of nails, screws and staples on the ground or boards.
ATTACH TARGETS TO THE PLASTIC BACKING OR VERTICAL SLATS
NEVER shoot into any wood posts or target racks – shoot into plastic only.
NEVER shoot at objects on the ground or in the air or placed on boards.
YOUR PAPER TARGETS must be affixed to the plastic backing – keep the aiming point far away from the 2”x6" supports and posts. Deliberately shooting at the horizontal cross members or posts will get you banned from the range.
7. PLEASE CLEAN UP AFTER YOURSELF
PLEASE help keep our ranges clean. Pick up all targets, boxes, patches and brass.
All brass CASES and ammunition must be picked up and placed in the brass buckets. This includes .22 rimfire. Patches, empty shotgun hulls and targets go in the rubbish barrels.
The safe time to pick up brass is when the line is clear and no one is shooting or touching guns.
8. PLEASE DO YOUR PART
Range maintenance is done by members like you. Protect your investment by reporting unsafe shooters, trespassers, slobs and cheats. Get us their vehicle license number.
Please volunteer to occasionally help maintain the Pistol Range. We also need instructors to assist in teaching pistol classes - especially women's introductory classes.
Please help us find scrap CORRUGATED PLASTIC SIGNBOARD for target backing. Please occasionally donate time or materials or let us know where we can get them inexpensively. Contact Pistol Committee Chairman Harry Schneider at psa@pagunlaws.com or slip a note in the cash box. Thank you.
All range shooting is governed by these rules except that special rules may apply during special events or at the discretion of the Pistol Committee Chairman. Rules may be changed by the NSSA Board of Directors or by the NSSA Pistol Committee Chairman.
