RIFLE RANGE RULES

JUNE 25, 2007

 

1)      Members and guests only. A current member must accompany guests. Members must display current membership card at all times.

2)      All shooters must sign-in and prepay fees before shooting. Sign-in constitutes acceptance and understanding of all listed rules and guidelines. FEES ARE: All members $1.00. All guests $2.00 each per range visit.

3)      Members have preference over guests when range is crowded.

4)      Shooting hours  are 8:00 AM until sundown.

5)      Absolutely no alcoholic beverages on the range at any time.

6)      Positively no full automatic, uncontrolled (un-aimed) or rapid fire (more than one shot in three seconds) shooting at any time.

7)      All shooters are strongly advised to wear eye protection during shooting.

8)      All shooters and spectators are strongly advised to use hearing protection while at the range. Muzzle blast can permanently cause hearing loss.

9)      Shoot at paper targets only. No clay birds, cans, balloons etc. remove all targets when range is “CLEAR” and when finished shooting.

10)   No shooting at targets on the ground or in the air. Shoot down range only. No cross-range shooting.              No mid-range targets of any kind.

11)  The posted orange system must be followed at all times. (The flag is set out when the “CEASE FIRE” command is given and the range is clear of shooting. The flag is retrieved when shooting is to resume or range is exited.)

12)   All actions must be open and ammunition removed from firearms when the “CEASE FIRE” command is in effect or people are down range. Do not handle firearms when people are down range.

13)   No shooting at cross-members or posts. Do not place targets on cross-members or posts. Place targets on backing or between vertical strips ONLY.

14)   All firearms must be handled in a safe manner. Keep your muzzle pointed in a safe direction. Down range.

15)   Do not throw any ammunition or brass in the rubbish barrels. Place in containers provided. Pick up all brass including 22’s after shooting.

16)   A parent or adult must accompany all persons under 18 years of age.

17)   Please keep our ranges clean. Pick up all targets, boxes, patches and brass.

18)   Shotguns using more than (1) one projectile (shot) are prohibited on the rifle range. Single projectile only. Shotgun pattering targets are to be used on the skeet or trap ranges.

19)   All rifles chambered for .50 cal. BMG are prohibited.

20)   Any and all accidental discharges must be reported to the range personnel or THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS.

21)   All vehicles are prohibited on the rifle range except for NSSA operational reasons.

 

All range shooting is governed by these rules except for special events, and may be changed at any time by NSSA board of directors or range committees as deemed necessary for the safety of our members and guests.

Non-compliance of these rules constitutes removal from the range and may be subject to disciplinary action by NSSA. Violators may be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
